Birthday Drabble 1:
The apartment seemed empty. Hunter switched on the light and saw Michael sitting at the table.
“Michael?” Hunter asked but got no reaction.
He stepped closer and touched him lightly. “Dad?”
Michael looked up and a weak smile appeared on his face. It was rare that Hunter called him “dad”. Michael knew that his son expressed all his love with the small word.
“Come on, let’s go to the cemetery”, the tall boy said as he took Michael’s hand.
His father nodded and hugged him. “Thank you for being here today. His birthday is always one of the hard days.”

Birthday Drabble 2:
Hunter felt a warm hand on his shoulder. It wasn’t necessary to turn around. He knew who it was.
“Isn’t she beautiful?” Hunter asked.
Michael nodded. “Yes, she’s gorgeous.”
“You know that I never thought this possible,” he whispered, and his voice seemed to crack.
Michael tightened his hold. “You are really lucky!”
“I know.”
Their eyes met and both knew that they thought of Ben.
Michael was the first to move and went up to the small crowd of children and mothers.
“Where’s my cute little granddaughter?” he asked as he hugged the laughing child. “Where’s the birthday girl?”
