“Especially during thunderstorms”

“Are you still afraid of thunderstorms?”

“No,” Michael answered tensely, ”they just make me nervous!”

“Hopefully there will be plenty of thunderstorms in the future.”

“Why?”

“Because,” Ben said as he opened his arms, “I will hold you close every time.”

Michael crawled into his arms. “You know, there doesn’t have to be a thunderstorm for you to hold me in your arms.”

A loud thunderbolt cracked and Ben’s arms closed tighter around his boyfriend.

“I know it’s childish!”

Ben grinned and pulled Michael as close as possible to his body. “I love you how you are –  especially during thunderstorms!”

“Never let go”

(Michael’s POV)

Life left him with his last breath. It was inevitable. They had known that this day would come. He sat there and held him in his arms until a nurse came. She was gentle but he couldn’t let him go. All their years together should have prepared him for this day but that knowledge didn’t help. His death still came as a surprise. One day he had a cold, the next day he lay in a hospital. Sadness washed over him, the pain in his chest unbearable. He pressed the lifeless body closer to him. He couldn’t let him go.

“Life in fear”

(Hunter’s POV)

He couldn’t live his life in fear... and although he knew this, there were days where it was impossible to live in the now. Life was never easy... especially not for him. But it was meaningless to battle destiny. What was important was what he had now – it was all he wished for. A home, a family, love. There were nights he was wide awake, panic in his heart about the future. It wasn’t the death he feared but the disease – the tormenting road which lie ahead. Conquering these thoughts wasn’t easy but he couldn’t live his life in fear!

(Hunter/Daphne)

He felt her body in the dark next to him. She radiated heat, her breath steady and regular. He looked at her, his gaze caught by her beauty. Her hair lay in waves on the pillow and she smiled. When he met her the first time he never imagined he would fall in love utterly and completely. They needed their time; they were friends for a long time before they became lovers. He was grateful to have found her. She moved in her sleep, he caressed her cheek. Then he spooned behind her and whispered quietly, “I love you, Daphne.”

Sex shouldn’t be a problem, but it was. Although he knew that they had safer sex he couldn’t ever forget the risks. Before their first time he was worried to death and felt like a virgin all over again. He remembered her smile when he admited his feelings. She was so sweet and guided him through the first steps until he saw only her, felt only her warmth under him, her soft lips on his. Their lovemaking was gentle and tender while they explored their bodies and minds. It was like it should be - free of worries. Just them.

When it broke the first time he freaked out. She was the one who calmed him down. In the end they were lucky. She didn’t get infected. He knew he should have reacted more maturely but the fear that he could have infected her was enough to stop all logical thoughts in his brain. It was just endlessly long panic before he gained his composure again and could think properly. He loved her because with her he was at ease, she was the place to where he could turn to let his mind come to a rest.  She wasn’t afraid.
